Red River Gorge, Ky

October 8 - 10, 2010

      Once again, I came out to Kentucky to help with some fundraising efforts to preserve the climbing lands mortgaged by the Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition (RRGCC). This event is their primary fundraising source and a great opportunity to re-unite with friends and experience the joy that is Red River Climbing!

      This year, my clinic was titled, Burl Like a Girl and I had 11 people signed up to take the clinic with me. When I previewed the roster, I saw a name on there that I thought couldn't be the person I knew. Her name is Monique Forestier and she was signed up to take the clinic. I asked our coordinator, Josephine, if this was a joke and she said she had no idea. She thought this was an ordinary attendee. To my surprise, the day of the clinic, Monique arrived and indeed it was my good friend from Australia.  I was surprised but elated to have her join me.

      In fact, for my clinic, I ended up having a power house of volunteer assistants. Monique was a surprise but she was a wonderful addition to our crew. I already knew I had the talented Margarita Martinez but I didn't realize Renee, her husband, was also joining us. Between the 4 of us, we were able to spend quality time with participants. I was super pleased and I think the attendees were as well. In fact, they wrote warm fuzzies after, some of which I added here to the testimonials portion of my site.

      Every year the event draws a good crowd but we could always have more people. There are vendors, movies, music, contests, drawings, and stellar climbing. The event always happens the 2nd week in October. I hope to see you here next year!
